On the ‘Payment Amount’ drop down menu, choose how much you can pay. (See explanation about fee structure/how much programs cost.) Note: If you need to pay $0 per week, select the 'Full Scholarship' button above and you will be redirected.
Select the 'Add to Cart' button for each project you wish to register.
If you are registering more than one volunteer, the “quantity” is how many volunteers you are registering for that project.
You can view the projects you have chosen by selecting the yellow 'View Cart' button at the bottom of the page (not the 'cart' option in the navigation bar). This opens a separate PayPal page.
To register for more than one project select 'Continue Shopping' in the upper right corner of the PayPal cart.
Once you are ready to pay, click the 'PayPal Checkout' button if you would like to pay through a PayPal account or the 'Check Out' button if you would like to pay directly with debit or credit.
After you have completed your payment, you will be redirected to the required YVC information/waiver form. All volunteers must fill out a waiver before participating in any Youth Volunteer Corps activities. You may also find the information/waiver form by either clicking 'Waiver' at the top of the page, or clicking here.
Some agencies require a separate volunteer waiver. These waivers will be made available in the project descriptions. PDF versions of the YVC Youth Profile and Parent Waiver can be downloaded here: English Version and Spanish Version
IS THERE A COST TO PARTICIPATE? YVC is open to all. Each session of YVC is offered at a subsidized rate of $49/week. However, our desire is that program fees would never present a barrier to participation. For this reason, our payment model is “pay what you can.” When you register, you will see the following options provided:
$15, $35 per week reduced fee options
$49 per week, the suggested weekly subsidized rate
$75 per week, the weekly subsidized rate plus an additional amount in order to contribute toward the cost for others
YVC of Topeka also offers full scholarships. If you need to pay $0 per week click the button labeled 'Full Scholarship'
No refunds will be provided after purchase.
The same experience is provided to all YVC participants, regardless of the fee paid. All participants receive a free YVC t-shirt. Meals, snacks, and transportation are not provided.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO AN EVENT? It is recommended that volunteers bring these items to each event: closed-toe shoes, sack lunch, water bottle, sunscreen (outdoor projects), and bug spray (outdoor projects). If there are special requirements, these will be noted in project descriptions.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL PROJECT LIKE? The projects at the YVC program in Topekawill be supervised by Kylee Wright and take place from Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. YVC volunteers will join a team of their peers, ages 11 to 18, to volunteer their time and service to help local nonprofits and learn about issues in the Topeka community. Participants arrive around 10-15 minutes early and an icebreaker or team-builder activity starts each day of the YVC program. Volunteers are introduced to one another and the agency staff who provide instructions to the team. As service takes place, the program director will lead volunteers in service-learning activities, energizer games, and facilitate meaningful reflection. Our goal is to create service that is rewarding, challenging, and educational for youth.
WILL LUNCH AND TRANSPORTATION BE PROVIDED? No. All youth will be responsible for their own lunches as well as transportation to and from the event. Project location details will be provided at sign-up and confirmed with participants prior to events.
